Time, silent and invisible
flowing all around and nowhere.
Time, perceptive and meaningless,
being something we caress and possess.
Do we need time to feel happy?
Do we need it to smell the fresh air around?
To feel loved and to share the love?
To just be? Not was or will…
Time is what we say we cannot find.
The only constant changing fast,
the only measure unmeasurable
and still we believe we don’t have it.
When we find all around is illusion,
created by the passing of time…
then we find we had it all,
but now it’s all gone.
Time is what we have.
Use it! Feel it! Every moment as if it’s your last one…
and you’ll find that it’s all there.
You can keep it forever if you are conscious of it.
We don’t see what we have until we lose it all. We then realize how foolish we were for not being aware sooner. Not being able to take advantage of every moment as if it were the last.
I came to this today because of all the people you could meet, I am the one who always said that I don’t believe in Valentine’s Day type parties. That you could venerate love any day of the year with something special. That small acts of kindness and love throughout the year are more meaningful than one extravagant day… etc., etc.
But at the end of the day, we all get into the loop of the routine. We all have obligations: work, children, events, trips. The manufactured hype of Valentine’s Day leaves us feeling jaded and caught in a spiral of cynicism, questioning its true worth.
And we do nothing special on that day. Because “you can do it any other day”, but that “other day” doesn’t always arrive on time.
Then it all ends and you realize how stupid it was not to have celebrated a “senseless” party because you believed yourself above all this and different. You knew it’s pure marketing after all.
By this I mean, if you think these holidays are all marketing, make any other day “your special day” with or without a partner.
But do it!
Don’t say that you could do it any day. Pick one today and make it yours!
And that is your day to celebrate life to the fullest with spontaneity and giving it your all. Take a day off from work even to delve deeper into that day just for you and the love of your life, if you have one.
Because if you put it off, you may find that tomorrow the only thing you have left is time and nothing else…
